THIS ISN’T FITNESS NETFLIX

I’m getting tired of feeling like I have to explain 10,000 things every time I show you my training.

“Go to a doctor. Get evaluated. This might not be suitable for you. That might not be applicable to someone else.”

I understand why those distinctions matter. But I also feel limited when I can’t simply document my training life without feeling like I have to write a thousand-page disclaimer.

What I share is my training life.

I show you how I live and practice fitness. What do I do when my golfer’s elbow or tennis elbow comes back? What do I do with my hamstrings? How do I find a way to keep training when something isn’t working?

I’m not telling you that what I do is suitable for you. I’m showing you what I do.

And I don’t want to hide that.

How many times do you think I’ve had elbow pain? It comes and goes. Why do you think I train forearms like an obsessive? Because I’ve found that it helps me. Why do you think I have extra training programs that are not basic at all? Because there are things I need to do to keep my body training.

Necessity makes me find a way. Then I share it.

Everyone wants a simple program. Yes, I provide simple programs. But that doesn’t mean every training need is simple.

That’s why I have all these playlists, extra exercises, workarounds, and different ways of training. They exist because I needed them. I found a way to work with something, and I made it available.

You might look at one of those options and think, “I have something going on here too. Maybe there’s a way I can train around it.”

That doesn’t mean I’m going to heal your pain. I’m not a doctor, and I’m not promising that my solution is your solution.

I’m showing you that there might be another way to approach your training.

If something is advanced, I warn you. If I say, “Big fat warning on this move,” I mean it. I’m showing you why I do it and how I do it for myself. That is not an invitation to copy something you are not prepared for.

You have to be an independent-thinking person.

Observe. Learn. Take what interests you to your medical provider if you need evaluation or clearance. Then decide what is appropriate for you.

I’m a coach. I teach. I train. I share what I practice.

I don’t want to spend my training life hiding what I do because I cannot explain every possible thing that could go wrong for every possible person.

This isn’t Fitness Netflix.

I’m documenting my training. I make programs, from simple to advanced, because training is not one identical experience for everyone.

The ideas are abundant. The practice is individual.

Take what is useful. Be responsible for your choices. Get the help you need. And train.

I’ve got a training day to seize -WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Today is Labor Day, and I’m celebrating hard work. But I’m also celebrating friendship.

Because building something on your own is not the same satisfaction as building it with someone who shares your goals, fuels your passion, and wants to keep building greatness together.

Pavel Ythjall and I have been one strong team since we met in 2001.

We shared the immigrant adventure. We made a name for ourselves in the United States of America together. We worked hard, built careers, and created things that neither of us could have done the same way alone.

He has documented nearly my entire career, helped create the fitness image you know me for, and taught me how to become stronger in front of the camera.

But what I value most is that we never stopped building.

Pavel is disciplined, focused, and creative. He shows up. No excuses. He doesn’t sit on old merits and think they will last forever. He keeps evolving, and that fuels me too.

He is my best friend and former business partner. I know his loyalty, his honesty, and the kind of person he is when the work needs to get done.

That is what I mean by finding people who share your mindset.

Not people who just talk about what they want to do. People who actually DO it.

People who fuel your passions, keep you motivated, and want to see you succeed while they keep building their own lives.

Being alone building is not the same satisfaction as having united minds that want to build greatness together.

And we have more to do than sit around talking about the past.

Pavel, thank you for the friendship, the hard work, and everything we have built together.

We’re not done.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY ENERGY?

If you’re fit over 40, maybe you’ve asked yourself that too.

You still want to train.
You still care about your body.
You still have goals.

But life has changed.

More stress. More pressure. New aches and pains. Less energy for everything you used to demand from yourself.

And then comes the self-doubt.

What happened to me? Why can’t I do what I used to do? Am I losing it?

I know those questions because I ask them too.

That’s why I created WHAT HAPPENED TO MY ENERGY?

It’s a Fighterdiet self-inquiry practice about managing stress, changing energy, self-doubt and your fitness life over 40.

It’s not a meal plan.
It’s not another set of rules.
And it’s not about telling yourself to just push harder.

These are the questions I ask myself when life gets heavy and I need to understand what’s going on instead of turning against myself.

Because staying fit over 40 isn’t only about building a strong body.

You have to keep building the mind that lives in it.

Have you ever asked yourself, “What happened to my energy?”

Tell me.

WHY TRAIN NORDIC CURLS FOR HAMSTRING GAINS?

Want bigger stronger hamstrings? Me too! Always!

This collection shows the different ways I use and build up Nordic curls—from assisted variations and partial ranges to eccentrics and more advanced versions.

Use these videos to see how you can progress the Nordic curl and create a serious hamstring challenge through knee flexion without relying on deadlifts or other heavy hip-hinge exercises.

Watch the variations, find the level that works for you, and build from there.

Remember you do not need to do deadlifts or any other move to build muscle, you need to use the ones that let you overload your muscles without tearing tendons or joints!

This is why I train hamstrings with various curls. Light work with deadlifts or full range of hyper extensions do not allow me to overload my muscles, they just mess up my healed tendons from old injuries!

WELL HELLO SUPERSTARS!

Today it's saturday.

Did you cave friday night and succumbed to temptations?

Or did you stay strong and determined, today you woke up relieved you did not let your mind seduce you?

Why do I remind you about committing to stay in defeed mode?

You want to get leaner, you want to see your muscle definition.

But you also want to indulge and 'enjoy life', now there is a clear dilemma:

The ability to balance your indulgences is not as strong as your desires to forget about staying on plan because you can always start over MONDAY....

Oh I know that, that is why I want you to stay close to coach Pauline.

I'm writing a new edition of FAT LOSS BY MIND POWER for the Fighterdiet academy but I'm naming it GET LEAN BY MIND POWER.

Guess why? YOU NEED IT.

You need motivation to stay on plan.

You have enough of 'it's ok, Darling, you're just human' from all other people who simply don't get it.

You're not suffering on a diet, you enjoy your healthy eating.

That does not mean you're eating for your goal to get leaner, it can even make you justify your choices, eat a little bit more of those favorite health foods.

Like peanut butter. Or fruit. Or an extra chicken breast since it's only protein so it does not count.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

I know. I too need to keep myself in check many times.

Why does it matter to stay true to the program for longer than a day or 5?

Because getting leaner, stronger and more skilled at maintaining your mind in the right direction, not get you to change the plan when the mind plays that devi's advocate game, AGAIN.

You are here because you want to master your body, you want to build, you want to feel invincible, in self control, not 'in handcuffs away from the refrigerator'.

Discipline requires the same focused and consistent practice as you put your muscles through in the gym.

You can't just choose 'now I am just not gonna cave, I'm going to rely on my willpower'.

Well, will power does not last, it powers out and you then need to rely on remembering your goals, reminding you how you want to feel in the future, ask yourself if this is really the right choice today for your goal you're working for every day?

Today when the sugar cookies are calling your name in the end of the afternoon..... REMEMBER this is why I have you enrolled in my program.

When you forget why you are in my Fighterdiet practice it is because you are not doing what you know you need to do nutrition wise and you are mad about it.

STAY FOCUSED. POBO YOUR WAY to stay on plan!

WATCH the Fighterdiet short videos for diet conundrums and thought provking moments about your concept of diet and what the struggles can be about.

FRIDAY MOTIVATION: YOU’RE NOT IN THE MOOD?

When I feel low and unmotivated, I call myself out:

Pauline, do you really need to feel like it first?

You have the privilege of being able to train. Your body may not let you do everything you want without limitations—but you get to train. That is more than many people can do.

I know you don’t feel like counting your blessings today.

So don’t.

But stay real.

I know you would rather crawl under the sheets with a big pint of ice cream and chocolate and forget about the day.

But you are not escaping reality.

Tomorrow still comes. And tomorrow, you will feel worse because today you started building momentum in the wrong direction.

If you want to get lean and strong—or stay lean and strong—choosing junk food and a sedentary lifestyle is moving directly against what you say you want.

What kind of mixed message are you giving yourself?

Would you tell someone else that this is how to reach their goal?

Every time you take the easy way out, you strengthen that choice. You become the sum of your choices.

That is how you got here.

That doesn’t mean staying here won’t require upkeep and discipline.

So I ask myself:

If I wrote a book about how I lived my life, what would I want that book to say about me?

Would I want to read about someone who kept waiting for perfect conditions before she acted?

Do you really want to be that person?

Nobody would want to read that book.

Not even you.

Motivation fluctuates like a bag in the wind. Sometimes the wind carries it directly toward the goal. Sometimes it blows in the opposite direction.

I am not that bag.

I don’t want the weather, the season or today’s mood deciding who I become.

The choice is between waiting to be in the mood and making myself get in the mood.

I know exactly how to change my energy.

I put the music on. I create some anger and frustration. I shake myself awake and generate some real fire.

When you watch my pre-workout energizer routine, it is basically my own little tantrum warrior dance.

You might laugh because you think it looks embarrassing.

Who cares?

The goal matters more than looking cool.

My goal is to train like I’m insane—with fire, focus and everything I have.

So I use whatever helps me create that energy without sabotaging myself later.

No pre-workout supplement, caffeine hit or momentary high can create lasting drive. The boost always wears off.

I cannot build lasting commitment on temporary highs.

I have to accept that training means showing up, making it happen—and sometimes making myself happen.

The toughest workout is not the body.

It is the mind.

That is why I say:

I COACH THE MIND THAT BUILDS THE BODY.

Now let’s train.

YOU ARE HERE where I train and coach. You got all you need to do this!

Hello Superstars!

Check out the ab exercise of the day I want you to film yourself doing so you can see what you do!

00:11

How I do Hanging Reverse Crunches aka Captain's chair

DO YOU TRAIN HANGING LEG RAISES FOR STRONGER ABS OR STRONGER HIP FLEXORS?What about both? There are two ways to lift your legs. You can lift them by flexing at the hips while your pelvis stays relatively still.Your abs are still working to stabilize you, but your hip flexors are producing most of the visible movement.Or you can lift your legs and intentionally curl your pelvis toward your rib cage—like a reverse crunch. That curl changes the exercise.Your rectus abdominis runs between your pelvis and rib cage. If you want it to do more than stabilize, you need to create movement between those two points.“But I feel it in my abs!” you might say.Yeah, I know.Your abs have to work when you’re hanging or supporting yourself in a captain’s chair. You can’t remove them from the position. But feeling your abs does not automatically mean they are producing the movement you think they are producing. If your thighs move but your pelvis doesn’t, you are primarily performing hip flexion while your abs stabilize. If you curl your pelvis toward your rib cage, you are also training your abs dynamically. If you want to build thicker, denser abs, you need to change your perception of how you train them for muscle gain.Your abs are muscles too. They respond to hard training and progression just like your other muscle groups. This is why I want to share my favorite muscle-building exercises for abs and give you an actual workout plan—not just another routine based on doing hundreds of repetitions on the floor.High reps can build muscle when the repetitions are challenging enough. But doing hundreds of bicycle crunches because your abs burn does not automatically make it the best way to build them.Planks and stabilization exercises train your abdominal wall too. They teach your abs to resist movement, and that is valuable. But would you expect to maximize your quad development by only going for walks? That might be how your abs experience your current abdominal routine. They are working—but are you challenging them enough to make them grow?Imagine how many gym-rat stories I can share about how I trained my abs throughout nearly 30 years of consistent bodybuilding life.I did all that high-repetition work.Sometimes I didn’t perform hanging leg raises at all because I thought they were boring!I trained hard, but I didn’t build the abdominal strength and muscle mass I believe I could have built if I had understood how to train them better.Live and learn. Then train better. That is why I want you to film your hanging leg raises, reverse crunches, floor leg raises, knee tucks and captain’s-chair raises. Then watch your form.Don’t just watch how high your legs go.Watch what your pelvis does. Here are my coach questions for you:Are you intentionally curling your pelvis toward your rib cage when your goal is to build more muscle in your abs?If your pelvis remains still, are you actually training the exercise for hip-flexor strength while your abs stabilize? Can you control the movement without swinging or using momentum? If the exercise hurts your lower back, can you reduce the range, bend your knees or choose a more suitable progression instead of forcing a version you cannot control yet?WHY DO I DO THIS EXERCISE?It allows me to keep my reps lower while making every repetition extremely challenging.I can curl my pelvis with intention, control the lowering phase and progressively make the exercise harder. This exercise is very tough for me.Hence, I use it.
